About Me
My research interests in teacher leadership, teacher labor markets, and teacher activism spring from my experiences as a high school science teacher in a Title I school in West Phoenix. In my work, I use quantitative and mixed methods to analyze the experiences of teachers, their leaders, and their students. The teaching profession has great importance as both a labor issue and a potential avenue to address the persistent inequities in our school system.
My dissertation explores different ways teachers work to improve the profession, including:
-
The results of the 2018 Arizona #RedForEd Walkout, of which I was a participant
-
Different concepts and measurements of the quality of teacher leaders who coach other teachers
-
The causal effects of a teacher leadership program in Denver Public Schools
Outside of my work, I enjoy hiking with a series of foster dogs, knitting various gifts for my friends, and winning board games!
